How to opt out of AI training: Twitch

Security and PrivacyOn for every account - The switch is the last setting on a long page, just above the button for downloading your data. Twitch opens its settings on the Profile tab, so this saves you a click as well as the scroll.

Twitch turned this on for you. It added Training for Generative AI on 12 August 2026 and switched it on for every account in the same move, with no email and no prompt. Asked on a livestream why it was not opt-in, Twitch's chief product officer said nobody would have opted in.

The label says "your channel content", which sounds like a streamer's problem. Every account has a channel, and it covers your clips, chat and profile as well as broadcasts.

How to find your Twitch AI opt-out manually

1. Open your account menu

2. Choose Settings

Skip Privacy Center a few rows above. It is the obvious guess and the switch is not in there.

3. Open the Security and Privacy tab

Settings lands on Profile. The tab is fourth along.

4. Scroll to the bottom

The switch is the last setting, under a run of options about badges and gift subscriptions. Stop when Download Your Data comes into view.

Purple with a tick means on. Dark and blank means off. That is your only confirmation.

What turning it off does not stop

Twitch prints the limits under the switch. Turning it off "does not opt you out of Twitch and Amazon using your channel content for other purposes", and it names recommendations, AutoMod and real-time sponsorship assistance as three of them. Those sit in the Twitch privacy notice, and this page controls none of them.

It also only counts from the moment you flip it. Nothing withdraws what was already used.

Chat you type in other channels

Your switch governs your channel. A message you post in someone else's chat belongs to their channel, so it follows their setting rather than yours. Turn yours off and every line you have typed in a big streamer's chat still sits under a switch you cannot see.

That is the catch worth knowing, because chat is what most accounts produce. Turning yours off is still worth the minute, as long as you know it protects your channel and not your chat.
